Hidden Peak District Locations That Inspired My Artwork

Some of the most inspiring Peak District landscapes are often the quieter locations hidden away from the main tourist routes. These lesser-known valleys, woodland paths and dramatic gritstone edges have inspired several of my Peak District fine art prints, helping capture the atmosphere and character of the national park through modern landscape wall art.

Lathkill Dale, located near the village of Monyash, is considered one of the hidden treasures of the Peak District. This charming limestone gorge offers a serene setting ideal for hiking, featuring calm streams, rich greenery, and a diverse array of wildlife. Additionally, the region is renowned for its striking caves and rock formations, attracting rock climbers and geology enthusiasts alike.

Tideswell, a village in the Peak District, is often referred to as the 'Cathedral of the Peak' because of its magnificent church, St John the Baptist. The village is characterized by quaint stone cottages, welcoming pubs, and unique shops offering local goods and crafts. Tideswell is renowned for its yearly Well Dressing Festival, during which villagers decorate the village wells with elaborate floral patterns.

If you seek a tranquil getaway, consider exploring the secluded moorland areas of the Peak District, which provide breathtaking views and ample opportunities for solitude. One such hidden gem is the Goyt Valley, situated close to Buxton, ideal for activities like hiking, birdwatching, and immersing oneself in nature's beauty. For history and architecture enthusiasts, the Peak District offers numerous hidden treasures waiting to be explored. Eyam village, renowned for its captivating history, was the epicenter of a tragic plague epidemic during the 17th century.
