About the Location
Derwent Edge is a prominent gritstone escarpment located in the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire, forming part of the eastern side of the Upper Derwent Valley.
 
The edge rises above Ladybower Reservoir and stretches northwards across open moorland, with its highest point at Back Tor, standing at around 538 metres above sea level.
 
This landscape is defined by its dramatic rock formations, known as tors, which have been shaped over thousands of years by wind, rain, and frost. Notable formations along the edge include the Salt Cellar, Wheel Stones, and Cakes of Bread, each with distinctive shapes and textures.
 
From the edge, there are wide panoramic views across the Derwent Valley and the surrounding Dark Peak, an area known for its wild moorland and rugged terrain.
