Pavey Ark, Lake District – Fine Art Print
Capture the dramatic and rugged beauty of the Lake District with this fine art print inspired by Pavey Ark, one of the most striking fells in the Langdale Pikes.
This artwork focuses on the sheer rock face and surrounding landscape, where steep crags rise above Stickle Tarn to create a bold and powerful scene. Inspired by time spent exploring the Langdale valleys, it reflects the contrast between towering rock formations, still water, and the wider mountain environment.
About the Location
Pavey Ark is a prominent fell in the central Lake District, located just north of Great Langdale and forming part of the well-known Langdale Pikes.
Rising to around 700 metres, it is best known for its impressive east-facing cliff, the largest in the Langdale area, which drops steeply above Stickle Tarn. The tarn itself sits in a natural hollow beneath the crag, adding depth and contrast to the landscape.
One of the most famous routes on the mountain is Jack’s Rake, a diagonal path across the rock face that is considered a classic Grade 1 scramble. This route, along with others such as Easy Gully, makes Pavey Ark a popular destination for walkers and those seeking a more adventurous ascent.
The summit area contrasts with the steep crags below, featuring a more open plateau with rocky outcrops, small tarns, and wide views across the surrounding fells.
From above, the landscape opens out across the Lake District, with views stretching across Great Langdale and the surrounding peaks.
This print is designed to capture that contrast between steep rock and open mountain terrain, focusing on texture, scale, and the dramatic presence of the crag above Stickle Tarn.
