Bring the beauty of Stanage Edge into your home with this museum-quality fine art print inspired by one of the Peak District's most iconic gritstone landscapes. Created from my original digital artwork, this Stanage Edge print captures the warmth, light and expansive views of summer above the open moor.

Stanage Edge is one of the most iconic gritstone escarpments in the Peak District, known for its dramatic cliffs and expansive views across the Hope Valley.

This artwork focuses on the brighter tones and expansive views of the summer months, where sunlit rock, open moorland, and wide skies create a calm and uplifting landscape. Inspired by time spent walking along the edge in warm weather, it reflects the balance between rugged natural forms and the softer light of the season.

About the Location

Stanage Edge is a prominent gritstone escarpment in the Peak District National Park, located just north of the village of Hathersage in Derbyshire. Stretching for around 4 miles (6 kilometres), it forms one of the most recognisable landscapes in the region.

Rising to around 458 metres at its highest point, the edge overlooks the Hope Valley and surrounding countryside, offering wide panoramic views across the Dark Peak moorland.

The escarpment is formed from millstone grit and has been shaped over thousands of years by erosion, creating a rugged line of cliffs, outcrops, and weathered rock formations.

In summer, the landscape takes on a softer and more vibrant character. Heather-covered moorland, bright skies, and longer daylight hours transform the edge into a more open and inviting environment. The elevated position allows for uninterrupted views, with light shifting across the hills and valleys throughout the day.

Stanage Edge is one of the most popular locations in the Peak District for walking, climbing, and photography, with accessible paths running along the top of the escarpment.

The combination of scale, accessibility, and natural beauty makes it a defining feature of the Peak District landscape.

This print is designed to capture that seasonal atmosphere, focusing on light, colour, and the expansive feel of the landscape during the summer months.
