Pen-y-Fan, Brecon Beacons – Fine Art Print

Capture the scale and presence of South Wales’ most iconic mountain with this fine art print inspired by Pen y Fan, the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons.

This artwork focuses on the sweeping ridgelines and open landscape that define the mountain, where broad slopes rise beneath wide skies. Inspired by time spent exploring the central Beacons, it reflects the sense of elevation, exposure, and expansive views that make Pen y Fan such a memorable and widely recognised location.

About the Location

Pen y Fan is the highest mountain in the Brecon Beacons National Park (Bannau Brycheiniog), rising to 886 metres above sea level.

It is also the highest peak in South Wales and the tallest mountain in Britain south of Snowdonia, making it one of the most significant and well-known summits in the UK.

The mountain forms part of a central ridge that includes neighbouring peaks such as Corn Du and Cribyn, creating one of the most recognisable skylines in the Brecon Beacons.

The landscape is shaped from Old Red Sandstone, giving the mountain its broad, layered appearance and distinctive form. From a distance, Pen y Fan has a clear and symmetrical profile, rising prominently above the surrounding plateau.

From the summit, there are panoramic views across the Brecon Beacons and beyond, with rolling hills and valleys stretching across South Wales. A stone cairn marks the top, covering a Bronze Age burial site, adding historical significance to the landscape.

Despite its height, Pen y Fan is relatively accessible, with well-defined walking routes leading to the summit. This has made it one of the most popular mountains in the UK, attracting large numbers of walkers throughout the year.

This print is designed to capture that sense of scale and openness, focusing on form, light, and the wide-reaching views that define Pen y Fan.
